Marina de Paiva from the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS), has delivered a powerful speech to present the Rome Civil Society Declaration on Sustainable Development Goal 16+ during the High-Level Political Forum 2019 at the United Nations headquarters on the 12th of July.

Marina spoke on behalf of civil society and addressed the need for accelerated action on achieving the vision of Goal 16 and on leaving no one behind. Marina also alluded to the Rome Civil Society Declaration in which civil society calls upon all actors to fulfill their commitments to build peaceful, just and inclusive societies.
The declaration, which is endorsed by more than 130 civil society organizations, addresses the current threats to the successful implementation of SDG16+.

The Rome Declaration was drafted in preparation of the High-Level Political Forum 2019. The drafting process was guided by three co-facilitators, including Coco Lammers from Namati, Peter van Sluijs from CSPPS and Pascal Richard from the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict.
The Secretariat of the CSPPS is coordinated and hosted by Cordaid.
