Kees Zevenbergen, CEO of Cordaid, will leave the organisation as of July 1, 2023. After more than six years heading the organisation, he believes the time has come to hand over the baton. “It has been a

In the words of Kees Zevenbergen: \u201cAs I look back with gratitude, my journey with Cordaid has been a fulfilling one, full of experiences and learnings. In 2016, at that time in the sixth year of my service as a member of Cordaid’s Supervisory Board, I was invited by the Cordaid chair at the time, Ernst Hirsch Ballin, to take over the leadership of the organisation. Until then I always considered myself a \u2018free agent working for the greater good\u2019. The fact that I ended up being CEO of Cordaid for much longer than originally planned shows that the work and the people of this beautiful organisation deserved long-term commitment. I really enjoyed it. They were beautiful, and intensive years\u201d, says Zevenbergen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zevenbergen guided Cordaid through several change processes as CEO. What stood out for him is the merger with ICCO, the Protestant equivalent of the Catholic Cordaid. A logical step for Zevenbergen: \u201cour work is inspired by the same Christian values and our missions were virtually identical\u201d. Thanks to the merger, Cordaid can achieve even more impact, while increasingly making room for the voice of partner organisations. Zevenbergen is proud of what Cordaid has achieved in recent years and that Cordaid remained a double-mandated organisation, where humanitarian aid and development go hand in hand, alongside increased ownership of local organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Handover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the coming months, Kees Zevenbergen will work on his transfer together with fellow board members. Ton Heerts, chair of the Supervisory Board of Cordaid: \u201cWe are extremely grateful to Kees Zevenbergen for the extensive work he has done in recent years. In collaboration with his colleagues as well as national and international partners, he managed to secure Cordaid with a solid foundation to build further on. We wish Kees all the best as a \u2018free agent\u2019 and I have no doubt that he will continue working for the \u2018greater good\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supervisory Board will soon start the recruitment process for a new CEO, who is expected to start on July 1, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kees Zevenbergen, directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Cordaid, quittera l’organisation le 1er juillet 2023. Apr\u00e8s plus de six ans \u00e0 la t\u00eate de l’organisation, il estime que le moment est venu de passer le relais. “Ce fut un parcours enrichissant”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour reprendre les mots de Kees Zevenbergen: \u201cJe regarde en arri\u00e8re avec gratitude, mon parcours avec Cordaid a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9panouissant, plein d’exp\u00e9riences et d’apprentissages. En 2016, dans la sixi\u00e8me ann\u00e9e de mon service en tant que membre du conseil de surveillance de Cordaid, j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 par le pr\u00e9sident de Cordaid de l’\u00e9poque, Ernst Hirsch Ballin, \u00e0 prendre la t\u00eate de l’organisation. Jusque-l\u00e0, je me consid\u00e9rais comme un \u2018acteur libre travaillant pour le bien de tous\u2018. En tant que Directeur G\u00e9n\u00e9ral, Zevenbergen a guid\u00e9 Cordaid \u00e0 travers plusieurs processus de changement. Ce qui l’a le plus marqu\u00e9, c’est la fusion avec ICCO, l’\u00e9quivalent protestant de l\u2019organisation Catholique Cordaid. Une \u00e9tape logique pour Zevenbergen: \u201cNotre travail est inspir\u00e9 par les m\u00eames valeurs chr\u00e9tiennes et nos missions \u00e9taient pratiquement identiques\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette fusion, Cordaid peut avoir encore plus d’impact, tout en laissant de plus en plus de place \u00e0 la voix des organisations partenaires. Zevenbergen est fier de ce que Cordaid a accompli ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et du fait que Cordaid soit rest\u00e9e une organisation \u00e0 double mandat, o\u00f9 l’aide humanitaire et le d\u00e9veloppement vont de pair, ainsi qu’une appropriation accrue des organisations locales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passage de relais<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dans les mois \u00e0 venir, Kees Zevenbergen travaillera \u00e0 son passage de t\u00e9moin avec les autres membres du conseil d’administration. Ton Heerts, pr\u00e9sident du conseil de surveillance de Cordaid: \u201cNous sommes extr\u00eamement reconnaissants \u00e0 Kees Zevenbergen pour le travail consid\u00e9rable qu’il a accompli ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. En collaboration avec ses coll\u00e8gues ainsi qu’avec des partenaires nationaux et internationaux, il a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 donner \u00e0 Cordaid une base solide pour continuer \u00e0 se d\u00e9velopper. Nous souhaitons \u00e0 Kees tout le succ\u00e8s possible en tant qu\u2019\u2018acteur libre\u2019 et je ne doute pas qu’il continuera \u00e0 travailler pour le \u2018bien commun\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
