From 2017 to 2022 he served as Minister of Justice and Security in the third cabinet of Prime Minister Mark Rutte.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ferd Grapperhaus started his supervisory duties at Cordaid on April 10th, 2024. He succeeds Ton Heerts, the mayor of Apeldoorn, who chaired the Supervisory Board since 2016 and resigned on April 10th.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8216;We look forward to the arrival of Ferd Grapperhaus with great confidence and are convinced that he can make a valuable contribution to Cordaid with his knowledge, expertise and network.&#8217;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ferd Grapperhaus looks forward to this new challenge: &#8216;These are very challenging times for non-profit organisations with humanitarian and development operations. They must work together along thin lines of regional conflicts and tensions with complicated international dimensions. It is there that expert organisations such as Cordaid must maintain their roles in helping and assisting local populations, both in their needs as in creating a feasible future.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heleen van den Berg, CEO of Cordaid, is very pleased with the new collaboration: &#8216;We look forward to the arrival of Ferd Grapperhaus with great confidence and are convinced that he can make a valuable contribution to Cordaid with his knowledge, expertise and network.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cordaid was founded in the year 2000 and originates from various charities, including Memisa and ICCO. The organisation focuses on humanitarian assistance and development cooperation to improve, among others, food security, health care, education, justice and gender equity.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cordaid works in the most fragile countries in Africa and Asia, including Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mali, and helps people living in poverty in the Netherlands.
