Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, makes history as the first American-born Pope. His choice of the name Leo carries deep significance as we approach the 134th anniversary of Leo XIII’s groundbreaking social encyclical Rerum Novarum, signaling a strong commitment to Catholic Social Teaching and justice for the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identification with peace, solidarity, and charity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Father J. Stuyt, member of the Supervisory Board of Cordaid and Rector of the Krijtberg in Amsterdam, states: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having served as Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru and on the Caritas Peru Board of Directors, Pope Leo brings valuable experience working alongside communities affected by poverty and inequality.
