Cordaid navigated one of the most turbulent years on record in 2025, a year the Council on Foreign Relations has called the worst humanitarian year on record. Conflicts intensified, civilian suffering deepened, and international solidarity faltered. Despite these challenges, we have reached almost 10 million people with our support in 2025.
This year’s annual report also marks the beginning of a new chapter. From July 2026, Cordaid embarks on a significant transition, moving from an implementing organisation to one that acts as a connector, broker, and technical partner, handing greater leadership, knowledge, and agency to partners in the Global South. It is a shift rooted in the “shift the power” movement and the decolonisation of development cooperation, one that will reshape how Cordaid works, partners, and defines success.
Alongside this transformation, Cordaid continued to champion the case that global solidarity is not optional but essential, launching the “The Netherlands is not an island” campaign with allied organisations to defend the value of international cooperation.
