Today, Pope Francis praised and canonized Oscar Romero, the archbishop of El Salvador who became a voice of justice for the poor.

Romero courageously spoke out against violations of human rights of the most vulnerable people and defended the principles of protecting lives, promoting human dignity and opposing all forms of violence. As a member of Caritas Internationalis, Cordaid honors his bravery and dedication, which has been an inspiration for our work throughout the years.
