As a founding member Caritas Internationalis, the global network of Catholic aid organisations, Cordaid takes part in the new campaign Together We. The three-year campaign was launched on December 13, the day after the 70th anniversary of the confederation.
The degradation of our Common Home, aggravated by the current COVID-19 pandemic, has had a disproportionate impact on those who already face poverty, disadvantage, marginalisation and vulnerability.
Interdependence in our Common Home
We realise that we are in close interdependence with all of Creation. What happens in one part of our world has an impact elsewhere and often the poorest peoples of our human family are severely impacted.
By participating in this new campaign, we call on all people to take part in caring for our Common Home and for the poor, to make our planet a better, healthier place to live for the present and future generations.
If we don’t care for our Common Home together, humanity will be without a home!
What is the Together We campaign about?
Together We is about integral ecology: the fact that we are all connected to each other and to the earth. It reflects our ambition to put Pope Francis’ encyclicals Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti into practice as one human family.
Inspired by the encyclicals, the campaign aims at bringing people of good will together to carry out new actions and initiatives, especially at the grassroots level, to combat poverty, restore dignity to the excluded and protect nature, in the spirit of integral ecology. In other words, we aim to create a new kind of radical solidarity.
