The Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) is the global network of civil society organisations supporting peacebuilding efforts in fragile and conflict affected settings.

The CSPPS platform

CSPPS brings together a diverse representation of civil society globally, both from countries affected by fragility, conflict and violence, and international civil society organisations working on issues of peacebuilding, statebuilding, conflict prevention and development at national, regional and global levels.

CSPPS supports in-country interventions to amplify the voice of civil society in political dialogue and related policy processes. At the global level, the platform represents civil society in the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding, a strategic tripartite partnership for political dialogue gathering civil society actors, governments from the g7+ group, and donors represented by the International Network on Conflict and Fragility (INCAF).

CSPPS objectives

The CSPPS strives for international collaboration that brings sustainable peace and inclusive development for all. The platform pursues the following three, interrelated objectives:

-> Strengthen and broaden civil society engagement and inclusion in peacebuilding, statebuilding and crisis prevention;

-> influence conflict prevention, statebuilding and development policies with peacebuilding values;

-> shape and infuse the International Dialogue, the SDGs and humanitarian processes with peacebuilding values.

Cordaid and CSPPS

In 2012, Cordaid opted to host the CSPPS Secretariat. By coordinating the platform, Cordaid positions itself as an organisation engaged in policy discussions on challenges in fragile and conflict-affected countries, by promoting an inclusive and comprehensive approach to SDG16 on peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

Through CSPPS, Cordaid advocates for the importance of locally-led and locally-owned actions in the fields of conflict prevention, peacebuilding and statebuilding, by amplifying the voice and agency of civil society organisations. CSPPS activities are strongly interlinked with other programmes’ daily activities coordinated within Cordaid, specifically the Just Future Alliance.
